Tasteful Touches Slimline Birthday Card

Today, I wanted to try my hand at another slimline card, and I really wanted to use the Tasteful Touches stamps again.

Here is the color palette used for this card

For this card, I started with a Rococo Rose base and added a layer of Gray Granite. I decided to make my own background paper, so I stamped the flower image randomly in Rococo Rose, and used a mask before stamping the foliage in Mint Macaron and then the pretty background stamp in Gray Granite,

I stamped four of the flower image in Rococo Rose and fussy cut them. I then glued two together to give it more dimension. I cut two labels from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, one in Gray Granite and one in Very Vanilla. I stamped the birthday sentiment from the Best Year stamp set.

I wrapped some pink twine (I think this is retired SU, but not positive) around the layers three times and added a bow. I adhered one of my flower images flush with the card and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals for the second.

For the inside panel, I stamped the sentiment and the flower image along with some foliage. I also stamped the flower image and foliage on the envelope.

Stitched Stars Slimline Birthday Card

I made my first slimline card yesterday (I am a bit behind on blogging). I had been wanting to try one, and I have to admit that this was a struggle for me!

Here is the color palette used for this card

For this card, I started with a Night of Navy Base and a Melon Mambo 2nd layer. I sponged those colors onto a Whisper White layer. I cut out several stars in varying sizes using the Stitched Stars Dies. I used a non SU Birthday stamp and die, as I didn’t have anything that I felt worked with this layout. I cut out 2 white “happy” pieces, one Night of Navy and one Melon Mambo. I glued them together slightly offset to give a 3-D look.

For the inside panel, I added one Stitched Star and stamped the remainder using the star stamp from the Warm Hugs set.

Zoo Globe Birthday Card

I have been dying to play with the Zoo Globe Stamps! In case you didn’t know, I am an animal nut… and these really called to me, as I spent several years living in Australia. Best days ever we’re feeding the wild kangaroo… until the day I go kicked by one… picture Kangaroo Jack in real life!

Here is the color palette used for this card

For this card, I started with a Whisper White base and cut three strips – one each of Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana, and Melon Mambo. I stamped my images on to a smaller strip of Whisper White and used my ink pads and Water Painters to watercolor the images. (All the colors used are included in the Supply List below.). This is a great trick to use when you don’t have all of the coordinating markers. I am all about stretching my pennies!

I fussy cut the birds, koala, and leaves and glued them down. Lastly, I used Crystal Effects on the balloons to add some dimension. I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana and layered in on cardstock of same color.

Celebrate Sunflowers is beautiful in any color palette!

I love the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle so much! It may be my favorite bundle in the catalog! For this card, I paired it with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder. I am so happy with the outcome.

Here is the color palette for this card

I used a sponge dauber to apply ink to my embossed background, to the solid sunflower image, some of the foliage, and the tag. I also applied ink with the dauber to my seam binding. I layered two Whisper White sunflower outlines on top of one Mint Macaron sunflower outline, with the Mint Macaron layer slightly (just barely) offset to add a bit of depth. I also cut some of the foliage out of Vellum Cardstock.

Water Shaker Card… Who Knew?!?!

Today, I saw a card made by Dorothee Coudroy and I HAD to attempt it. I just couldn’t believe that there was actually water in the card. She has a tutorial on her YouTube channel, so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately for me, the tutorial was 100% in French, and while I could understand about 1 in 10 words (my French is BEYOND rusty}, the tutorial was so well done that I was able to grasp the basic construction concept. I am so thrilled with the results!

I changed a few things from Dorothee’s card, but kept it pretty close to see if I could make it work. I honestly didn’t expect to have such great success right out of the gate!

If you need any of the supplies used to make this card, just click the “Add to Cart” button and it will do the work for you. (Sorry, it won’t make the card for you!)

Challenge: Z Fold Card

Yesterday, I stumbled upon this really cool group of Australian SU demonstrators – The Dimensionals. Every month they publish a set of tutorials for 3-D projects and when you purchase the tutorials, you also receive access to their Facebook group. This morning, they sent out a challenge to make a Z-Fold Card. The tutorial used the Perfect Peony set, which I don’t have yet, so I used the new Celebrate Sunflowers set and I am ridiculously happy with how it turned out! The tutorial was very easy to follow, and in not too terribly much time, I had this beautiful card to share!

Here is the color palette used

For this card, I used the following:

Stamps: Celebrate Sunflowers, Peaceful Moments (Sentiment)

Dies: Sunflower Dies, Hippo & Friends Dies

Cardstock: Whisper White, Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade

Ink: Bumblebee, Just Jade, Cinnamon Cider, Pumpkin Pie

Misc.: Flowers For Every Season DSP, Retired SU Embossing Folder (I have no idea what it is), Dauber Brushes, Glue

All of these products can be found on my website at http://KimOwens.stampinup.net

I daubed ink onto the sunflower parts and leaves to add some depth before putting them together and I am pleased with how it turned out!
